Patina
The “Patina” project is our journey in investigating how patina patterns from copper and brass can inform the shaping of sculptural objects. This exploration started from our observation on how the metal objects in our studio are all a bit stained and rusted, forming thin layers that adorns its surface.
We are fascinated on how this process alters the surface quality of objects, making them into something new. We used oxidized sheets of brass and copper, and followed how different processes form different patinas, and then use the resulting patterns to shape the material into objects. The result is a series of 32 pieces of sculptural objects, currently installed at the newly built Indika Energy office buildings and plaza, Jakarta-Indonesia.
